MUSHROOM ADVENTURES

Several weeks ago, my boyfriend's father sent me a box of dirt. It was a very sweet, thoughtful and generous gesture. I now have a consistent supply of fresh portabello mushrooms the size of my head. Thanks, Mr. Steve!

I read somewhere that mushrooms are a squirrel delicacy. Given a choice between high energy foods (like nuts and seeds) or low energy mushrooms, squirrels almost always choose mushrooms. Zoologists suspect that this may indicate that mushrooms contain nutrients essential to the squirrel diet.

Maybe I should specialize in squirrel nutrition.
