I'm so glad
AMZ put this online!
Eureka!
Last week I was vacuuming under the bed for the first time in a year, and I found myself, hidden amongst the dust bunnies and long lost and forgotton socks.
"Well there you are!" I said to myself. "What have you been doing hiding under here?"
"Are the final exams over?"
"Yes. For almost a week now."
"Did we pass? Do we get to go on to third year?"
"Yes, with flying colors. GPA is intact."
"But. . .aren't there some 5th or 6th forms of pemphigus we need to study? More manifestations of amorphus globosus? More viral membrane proteins to memorize?"
"No--no more studying 20 hours a day. Like I said, the semester is over. We did good. It's safe to come out, at least for the next three months or so. Okay?"
"Ummm. . ."
"I made cookies."
". . .Really?"
"Yes."
"What kind?"
"Our favorite."
"Hmm. . .Okay."
After I coaxed myself out of the hole, myself and I joined forces and decided to gorge on oatmeal-raisin-chocolate chip cookies, sleep and watch movies in the dark of our studio apartment, then later in the week we decided to re-join civilization.
Blogging hadn't resumed until now because the body had to recover before the brain was ready to function again--so I went out and got some fresh air and exercise. I went to work last week and tried to sit down to write a column, but I just couldn't. The juice had been drained. I was wishing for a mindless job pushing buttons in some factory or office with an ocean view. Friday I was finally able to muster together enough brain cells to write a couple columns.
So me, myself and I have fused back into one, and I'm almost back full-force now.
